I was able to work from home a week after my procedure. I COULD have gone to work but chose to work from home so people wouldn't notice anything. The next week I went to work and no one said or noticed anything (that I am aware of). My scalp looked red like a sunburn but my existing hair hid it fairly well. My family (except my wife) ddn't know I was having it done and they saw me five days after the procedure and didn't notice anything.

I work in retail, which at times can be stressful. I had the procedure done on a Thursday and return to work the following Monday. However, I did wear a hat for a few weeks after the procedure while at work.

Yes, you can return to work as quickly as you feel comfortable given your situation. I returned to work the day of my procedure but we don't recommend that for most patients. If however your job required heavy lifting or more exertion, we'd recommend you take some time off or, go back to work under light duty. We typically provide a Doctor's Excuse for those patients.

What if I'm a manager of a call center company and I'm gonna have my hair transplant, is it okay if I go back to work after a week? I don't interact with many people, I'm just in my office the whole day.

I work some construction, so it was a little different for me. I took 5 work days off to heal as to not bump my head on something in the field of work that i'm in. I'm an electrician by day. Also, i was able to wear a cap almost all the time and people got used to seeing me that way. My scalp was red underneath for a little while, but the hat covered it up well. I wore the cap around folks 2 weeks prior to my surgery. They never even new when i had it done. They just assumed that i loved wearing caps. It's been 10 1/2 months now since my surgery. I'm tickled with the results! I no longer dodge the wind. The wind is my friend now. He can blow thru my hair all day and i hold my head high.

My work is not physically demanding so for that reason I was able to return to work the next day. With me there was some exisitng hair up there and that really helped to cover the temporary redness, kind of like a sunburn, that was there for the first week or so. I also used a little artificial camoflauging in the transplanted area when i was out at a social gathering a few days after my procedure. This made me feel a little less self aware of what i had just had done keep my friends from knowing until i was ready to tell them.

I took the day off after my surgery, but was back to work on that Friday. My work in an office, so there was no strenuous work. I did miss not being able to work out, but I was over-training a bit anyway and needed the break.

I know after my procedure I decided to work the rest of that day and went directly back to work. I had a friend do the same thing but we can both hide in our offices and don't have to interact with co-workers or clients unless we want.

The biggest thing for a lot of patients is more about how comfortable they are with their appearance for the first few days following the procedure. Unless your job is labor intensive, returning to work is more a matter of comfort level than ability to function or work.

I have known of guys having the procedure done and working during the procedure. As silly as it may sound, it happens. They'll pull out their blackberry or Iphone and respond to e-mails, chat with co-workers, etc.
